What the job is
A Community Support Worker - Team Lead for Pandora Services is expected to provide personal, social, emotional and some physical support to the persons served and in some cases, oversee home management tasks. They may also work in collaboration with community outreach programs and health teams. They provide care in the homes of the individuals served or offer assistance & support services to those in need of rehabilitation and their families.
As a Team Lead, you will act as the primary point of contact on select individual’s care teams and serve as a liaison between the support staff and your Service Area Manager and/or Supervisor. You may help coordinate scheduling and are expected to communicate effectively and professionally with the persons served, their families, coworkers, management, service providers, and any other necessary people within the care team.
You will also be responsible for completing reports, maintaining daily documentation, and ensuring clear, accurate communication—both digitally and in person—while supporting your team in doing the same.
Your role is crucial in maintaining smooth coordination and alignment across all aspects of the care team.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of a Community Support Worker Team Lead include providing meaningful companionship, assisting with personal care (grooming, dressing, hygiene, toileting, feeding), and managing household tasks (cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping). You will ensure living conditions are maintained to keep a hygienic, safe, and healthy environment, monitor medications in line with individualized care plans, and provide any other necessary support.
You may also advocate on behalf of individuals to help them understand their rights regarding legal or financial issues. Your role also includes monitoring the progress of the individuals by observing daily activities, tracking and reporting behaviours and medication administration, filing reports to supervisors or managers, and conducting evaluations of program effectiveness to recommend improvements.
As a Team Lead, you will also help oversee shift schedules, provide guidance to support staff, and ensure care plans are being followed appropriately along side the Service Area Managers and/or Supervisors. You’ll support individualized training for new team members and communicate regularly with management regarding additional training, resources, or supports needed.
It is important for support workers to understand that each individual served has specific needs based on their unique situation. Qualifications & Requirements
Ideal candidates will have strong leadership, communication, time-management, organizational, interpersonal & technological skills.
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent Required
- Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License and a reliable vehicle Required
- Valid Level 1 First Aid & CPR Level C Required
- Criminal Record Check Required
- Previous experience in a support role within Disability & Mental Health Services, or a related field Required
- Previous leadership experience as a Team Lead, Supervisor or related role in a team setting Preferred
Additional Certificates:
- Food Safe Certification Required
- WHMIS Certification Required
- NVCI or MANDT training Preferred
